Learning Health Systems: Rapidly Improving Patient Care & Workplace Satisfaction at a Lower Cost

Alberta SPOR SUPPORT Unit Virtual Institute 2020 - Concurrent Sessions

(Oct 20/2020)

In publicly funded health care, we always work towards creating health systems that provide more care and better care, for less cost. Recent efforts have centered around Learning Health Systems (LHS), which aim to integrate health research with health practice by removing barriers and fostering a space that supports continual and rapid improvements to routine care.

This session will discuss LHS in an Alberta context. This session will provide an introduction to LHS and outline existing initiatives in the province that are supporting this system. The objectives of this session are to:

describe what a learning health system is, and what this looks like in Alberta demonstrate what embedded research is, and what this looks like in Alberta discuss potential opportunities for collaboration between researchers and health system practitioners
