The Ełèts’ehdèe is Hotıì ts'eeda's annual gathering. Ełèts’ehdèe means annual gathering in the Tłı̨chǫ language. The event is a space for partners, community members and researchers to meet and connect, learn about Hotıì ts'eeda and share information about health research in the NWT.
Th 2020 Ełèts’ehdèe-Katimaqatigiit-Nihkhah Łatr’iljil theme is Climate Change, Human Health, and Youth. The online event will be held Sept. 29-Oct. 2, 2020. It will include plenary panels on health and health research topics, storytelling and sharing about ongoing projects and issues in the NWT. It will also include small learning spaces to connect with cultural knowledge holders and researchers across disciplines and regions.
The upcoming 2020 Ełèts’ehdèe gathering is proceeding under the name Katimaqatigiit (Inuvialuit)- Nihkhah Łatr’iljil (Gwich’in). The Inuvialuktun and Gwich’in names acknowledge that it is being hosted by the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, a key Hotıì ts'eeda partner, and in cooperation with the Gwich’in Tribal Council. Inuvik is home to both Gwich’in and Inuvialuit peoples. Planning for the 2020 Ełèts’ehdèe-Katimaqatigiit-Nihkhah Łatr’iljil in Inuvik on April 14-17 was underway before COVID-19 restrictions were implemented in the NWT. Hotıì ts'eeda has adjusted and is now moving to the online format for this gathering.
