COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENTS

BC AHSN recognizes the urgent need to keep our staff team, volunteers, partners and guests safe – and we want to minimize transmission of COVID-19 by limiting close contact with others at this time.

Due to current conditions and risks associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, effective March 18th, 2020, our Vancouver office is closed until further notice.

BC AHSN (including BC SUPPORT Unit, Clinical Trials BC And Research Ethics BC) staff team members will be reachable by phone and by email, but will not be physically located at our Vancouver office.

BC AHSN, which includes the BC SUPPORT Unit, Clinical Trials BC and Research Ethics BC, understands and appreciates the challenges being posed by COVID-19 and the implications for project timelines. We want to ensure that all of the work we fund has the opportunity to deliver the maximum impact through full and successful completion of projects. As such, we will strive to be as flexible as possible, and we will communicate as soon as further information is received from our funders, including the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR).

REACH BC is a new online platform that connects the public with research opportunities related to their health conditions and/or interests, to ultimately advance health care and improve health outcomes in British Columbia. REACH BC is committed to helping connect British Columbians to clinical research opportunities. The launch of the platform was expedited in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic in an effort to support the recruitment of participants in COVID-19 related research.

Patient Engagement in the Time of COVID-19 (April 1, 2020)

People are curious about the state of patient engagement and patient-orientated research (POR) during this unprecedented time. How can organizations continue to support and engage with their patient partners? What is the current and future state of patient-oriented research?

Our management team remains vigilant and is monitoring the situation in real-time. We’ll be responding rapidly as conditions evolve on our website and social media channels.
