About Us
Patients expect the best possible health care. The BC SUPPORT (SUpport for People and Patient-Oriented Research and Trials) Unit is part of a national program to help health care research be more relevant and meaningful to patients, so that they get the best possible health care. Find out more about us.
Our Activities
Patient-oriented research (POR) requires the input of patients, researchers, health care providers and health system decision makers. We aim to support POR through two main areas of focus: doing and studying. We support patient-oriented research teams to do research, and help bring research teams together to study the best ways to do POR. Find out more about our services.

Who We Are

We provide services to researchers, patients, health care providers and health system decision makers, and facilitate initiatives identified as provincial priorities.

We’re one of 11 SUPPORT Units across the country, all part of Canada's Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR), led by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

We're part of the BC Academic Health Science Network (BC AHSN), an organization which also includes Clinical Trials BC and Research Ethics BC.
